TAEA Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) Contest

Twenty-two Glen Rose High School art students competed at the 2024 Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) on February 10 at Azle High School. There were over 1,000 entries from high schools across North Texas. Students work over several weeks to prepare a work of art, and then present their work in an interview to a panel of judges. In the interview, students are asked about their process and critical decisions influencing their work. Works are scored as a 1-4, with a 4 being the highest.

Out of Glen Rose High School’s 20 entries, the following students came home with 15 top scores and 15 medals: Piper Johnson-Zobel, Gloria Moody, Corey Seidl, Lilly Stover, Abigail Wilson, Kaley Billings, Kyla Halcom, Grecia Hernandez, Zoe Key, Lillibeth Montero, Emma Thomas with two works, Prestyn Winslow, Audra Hernandez, and Brooke Marino.

In addition, to these top ratings, Audra Hernandez, Piper Johnson-Zobel, and Abigail Wilson made a perfect score on their artwork.

The mission of the TAEA Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) is to recognize exemplary student achievement in the Visual Arts by providing art students and programs a standard of excellence in which to achieve.
