Trustee Election, November 3, 2020
Glen Rose ISD and the City of Glen Rose has contracted with the Somervell County Elections Administrator to hold a joint election at the Somervell County Annex. The election was originally called by the GRISD Board to be held on Saturday, May 2, 2020, however due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the GRISD Board of Trustees voted on Monday, March 23, 2020 to postpone the election to the November Uniform Election Date of November 3, 2020.

UPDATE: March 23, 2020
Governor Abbott’s proclamation issued March 18, 2020 allowed authorities to postpone the District’s general election to the November 3, 2020 Uniform Election Date. Per the proclamation, all candidate filings for the election will remain valid for the election held on the November date and the filing period will not be re-opened for the November 3, 2020 election date.

Deadline to File for Place on Ballot:
* * Friday, February 14, 2020
Hours: Monday-Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
** Final Day – Friday, February 14, 2020, 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Application forms may be obtained and filed in the superintendent secretary’s office located in the GRISD Administration Building, 1102 Stadium Drive, Glen Rose, TX 76043.

Early voting begins: Tuesday, October 13, 2020
Last day of early voting: Friday, October 30, 2020
Days/Times: Monday-Friday – 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on the following dates:
October 13, 14, 15, 16, 19, 21, 22, 23, 26, 28, 29, and 30th.
Also, Tuesdays October 20 and 27 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Applications for ballots by mail must be received no later than the close of business on Friday, October 23, 2020.

UPDATE: Per the order to postpone the May 2, 2020 Gen. Election to Nov. 3, 2020, all ballots by mail (ABBM)s for voters that are voting by mail due to being over the age of 65 or due to disability will still be valid for the postponed election. All ABBMs for voters who submitted ABBMs (for the May 2, 2020 election) based on expected absence from the county will not be valid for the postponed election.

About the Board

Glen Rose ISD Elected Officers (link to current board members)
The Board of Trustees consists of seven members elected to serve, without compensation, for overlapping terms of three years each. Candidates receiving the highest number of votes for the number of positions with expiring terms shall be elected. Elections are conducted annually in May. Following the election, the board elects a president, vice president and secretary to serve for one-year terms.
