From the Office of Superintendent Trig Overbo, Ed.D.

Dear Glen Rose ISD Family,

The past year has posed many challenges for our nation, community and school district. Despite unprecedented circumstances, Glen Rose ISD had a great school year. This is a direct result of the cooperation, support and collaborative efforts of our parents, students, staff and community.

Glen Rose ISD experienced relatively low COVID-19 case counts, which validate Glen Rose ISD’s ability to provide a safe educational environment as a result of our safety protocols. Conversely, state and local achievement data prove that remote learning does not yield the same quality learning experiences for students as in-person.

Therefore, Glen Rose ISD will open the 2021-2022 school year with in-person instruction as the sole option for all students.

In the spring of 2020, the COVID pandemic forced districts across the country to implement remote learning practices overnight. Within days of closing school, GRISD staff was able to implement remote instruction for our secondary students and transitioned to remote instruction for the elementary students the following week. What an outstanding accomplishment! During the 2020-2021 school year, students were allowed to attend GRISD via in-person or remote instruction with increasing numbers of remote learners returning to in-person instruction throughout the year. Our staff and students have done a great job responding to the temporary instructional changes; however, with the wide-spread vaccination efforts underway, it is our goal for Glen Rose ISD to get all students back in the classroom.

In the upcoming months, we will review our current health and safety protocols for the 2021-2022 school year and revise as necessary. Any revisions to our current plan will be released this summer and posted on our district website.

Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we strive to provide the best education for all students.

Sincerely,
Trig Overbo, Ed. D.
