Lone Finalist Named
At a called board meeting on Thursday, October 22, 2026, following their search, the board of Trustees at Glen Rose ISD name Dr. Courtney Carpenter, Superintendent at Argyle ISD as their lone finalist for the position of Superintendent at Glen Rose ISD.
Throughout nearly three decades in public education, Dr. Carpenter has served as a teacher, principal, central-office instructional leader, Deputy Superintendent, and now Superintendent. Her experiences in high-performing school districts with strong community expectations have shaped her as a leader with high expectations for students and staff, responsible stewardship of resources, strong relationships, accountability, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to doing what is best for students.
Dr. Carpenter is a 29-year veteran educator, mom of two amazing kids, and wife of 28 years to her high school sweetheart, Craig. Both grew up in the small town of Teague, Texas, and education has truly become a family calling. Craig is a lifelong educator who spent 25 years as a teacher and coach and now serves as a Director of Operations.

Glen Rose holds a special place in our family’s hearts, and I am deeply committed to honoring its traditions while building upon its strong foundation of excellence for the future. “When the Board began this search, we were looking for a leader who understands what makes Glen Rose ISD special. We believe no one understands that better than Dr. Carpenter. Our community was clear about what they wanted, so throughout the process, she demonstrated that she is the right leader for our district," said Board President Clint Staples.

With the potential for heavy rainfall over the next few days, Glen Rose ISD is taking precautions to help keep our students and staff safe.
For the safety of our students and drivers, buses will not travel through low-water crossings or areas where rising water may create unsafe conditions.
If you live in an area where high water could impact your child’s bus route, please consider making alternative transportation arrangements over the next two days.
Tutorial bus routes will be canceled tomorrow, Thursday, October 1. Students who stay after school for tutorials will need to have alternate transportation home.
As always, we ask everyone to put safety first and avoid taking unnecessary risks. Thank you for helping us keep our students, staff, and drivers safe.

Yesterday we had a great morning celebrating CTE at Glen Rose ISD!
Guests had the chance to tour our newly renovated CTE building, learn more about our CTE Programs of Study, and hear about the accomplishments and successes of our CTE students.
A huge thank you to our Culinary students and Mrs. Culp for preparing and serving an amazing brunch!
We were also excited to award Perkins grant funding to several of our CTE teachers to support new equipment, resources, and hands-on learning opportunities for students.
Most importantly, thank you to our community members for taking the time to join us and for partnering with GRISD. Your support, experience, and involvement help us continue building meaningful opportunities for our students and strengthening the connection between our school and community.

October is Dyslexia Awareness Month, and GRISD invites our parents and families to join us for an Informational Night for Dyslexia!
Come learn more about dyslexia, the referral process, and the programs and support available to our students. Our dyslexia therapists will be available to share information, answer questions, and connect with families.

As our students return to the road, we want to remind everyone of the law when approaching a school bus with flashing red lights and its stop sign extended.

Glen Rose ISD kicked off the 2026-2027 school year at Convocation as staff from across the district came together to prepare for the year ahead.
The day began with performances by our band, cheerleaders, and Dazzlers before staff participated in team-building activities throughout the district. Teams worked through obstacle courses, played games, created floral arrangements, coded robots with Amazon Think Big, enjoyed charcuterie cups from the new café, played bingo and cornhole, and worked together to create a team masterpiece.
The floral arrangements created during the day were donated to the residents of Glen Rose Nursing & Rehabilitation Center, allowing our staff to share kindness beyond our campuses.
