Tigers@Home with MacBooks

Typically 4th-12th Grades

Here are the two things you need to know to help your student be successful while at home.

1. StoneWare with WebPass

Stoneware is a portal used by the school district to do two things:

  • Keep teachers from having to manage all the different on-line resources we use
  • Keep students from having to remember what resources to use and what their credentials to use for each one are

Stoneware is called a “single sign-on” platform. Students log into the StoneWare portal ONCE, then just click on the resource they need. StoneWare with WebPass puts the proper credentials into the web site so the students can get in.

Here is what you need to do to make sure you students can get into StoneWare and that it will work.

  1. Open Firefox or Chrome web browser on your student’s MacBook
  2. Ask your student to go to StoneWare, or click here: https://stoneware.grisd.net
  3. Ask your student to log in with their school username and password. This is the same username and password your student should be using to log into their MacBook. If they can NOT log into StoneWare, contact your student’s teacher. (Just one!)
  4. Finally, after login, WAIT for 20 seconds. If you get no prompts to install WebPass, then it is most likely installed. If you DO get a prompt to install WebPass, follow the instructions to install it. You will know WebPass is installed when you see a little blue box with a white key in the browser toolbar, usually on the far right at the top.
  5. (optional) If you use BOTH Firefox AND Chrome, then repeat this for the other browser

2. Resources Student Use

The second thing parents should know to help their students at home, is what are the resources that students use on their MacBooks. Below is a list of possible resources students, and a guide for how to “get in” to them.
