GRHS 2017 Top Ten Graduates Recognized

Board members recognized the GRHS 2017 top ten graduates at last night’s board meeting. We are very proud of these students and their achievements in High School and look forward to what they will accomplish in the future!

The 2017 Top Ten Graduates are…

10. Cameron Rush
Cameron was a 4 year starter on the varsity baseball team who brought home the area championship trophy in 2015, he was an active FFA member, and a member of the National Honor Society. After graduation, Cameron will be attending East Texas Baptist to play baseball and study Biology/Pre-Med and has plans on becoming a sports medicine physician. Cameron graduates from GRHS with 24 college credit hours.

9. Joel Sims
Joel was involved in National Honor Society and was very active in Theatre Arts and Choir all 4 years of High School. Joel received numerous awards for his talents in both areas including All-State solo and ensemble in choir and all-star cast in One Act Play. In Joel’s four years of High School he participated in every single theatrical production put on by GRHS. Joel plans on continuing his education at Tarleton State University. Joel graduates GRHS with 30 college credit hours.

8. Hannah Andrews
Hannah was a member of our State Qualifying Academic UIL spelling and vocabulary team this year. She is our National Honor Society Treasurer, a 2-time TAAF Swimming Qualifier, and POWERSET member. She will be attending Texas A&M this fall, majoring in Biomedical Sciences and has plans on becoming a metabolic geneticist. Hannah graduates with 51 college credit hours.

7. Wenqing (Wendy) Lin
Wendy is a member of the National Honor Society and Vice President of the Spanish National Honor Society. She is involved in WIT, FCCLA, and HOSA. She was on the district champion Academic UIL accounting team. Wendy also plans on attending Texas A&M University majoring in Business. Windy graduates with 34 college credit hours.

6. Sophie Bozarth
Sophie participated in volleyball and tennis. She collected 2 TGCA All-State honors as well as Academic All-State in both volleyball and tennis. Sophie also was selected to play in the TAVC All-Star game that was played this weekend. Sophie is a member of the National Honor Society, and POWERSET. She too will be attending Texas A&M University, majoring in Education and has plans to become an Elementary School Teacher. Sophie graduates with 32 college credit hours.

5. Seth Love
Seth is active in Athletics where he was a member of the Area Champions in football this year, Seth also played baseball for the Tigers. Seth participated in WIT, and in Academic UIL. Seth plans on attending Texas A&M University to study Aerospace Engineering. Seth graduates with 60 college credit hours.

4. Kaley Shaw
Kaley was the captain of our Varsity Cheerleaders this year and received honors in cheer of being named to the Legacy All-Star Cheerleading Team and Academic All-State in Cheer. Kaley is also our other senior member of our State Qualifying UIL Spelling and Vocabulary team. She is a HOSA officer. She plans on attending Mississippi State or Texas A&M and plans on becoming a chemical engineer. Kaley graduates with 56 college hours.

3. Brittany Rosentreter
Brittany is the POWERSET President and NHS Secretary. She received Academic All-State honors in Cheer, Cross Country, and Academic All-State second team in Tennis. She also was a Regional Qualifier this year for Academic UIL in Calculator Applications. Brittany will be attending University of Texas in Austin majoring in nursing. On a side note, only 6% of all applicants who applied to UT nursing program got accepted as a Freshman and Brittany is one of those! Congratulations Brittany! Brittany graduates GRHS with 57 college hours.

2. Matthew Willis
Matt is President of WIT and of our Student Council. He is also the Vice President of the NHS and was honored to the Academic Elite All-State Football Team this year! He was a regional qualifier in computer applications, calculator applications and mathematics. Matt will attend Trinity University and will major in Engineering Sciences and then plans to continue towards a masters degree in biomedical engineering. Matthew graduates with 54 college hours.

1. Cassi Niedziela
Cassi is the President of the NHS as well as the Class President for all four years of High School. She is a PowerSet member, Drum major, and has been a member of the Tiger Pride Band for the last 4 years. Cassi will attend New York University in the fall studying Global Public Health and Sociology with a minor in Public Policy. She plans on joining the Peace Corps for 2 years and pursue a career with an organization that works to improve access to education and health care in Africa. Cassi graduates from GRHS with 62 college hours.
