The Glen Rose High School Chapter of Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) recently attended the Region II FCCLA Leadership Conference in Waco on Feb. 27-29, 2020. All six of our teams advanced to state competition, which is coming up in April.

Twelve GRHS FCCLA chapter members were among 1500 delegates and advisors attending the conference, which was planned and carried out by the Region II FCCLA Officers, including GRHS’s own, Caroline Davis. Caroline served as the Region II Vice President of Competitive Events and was responsible for directing students and volunteers to their designated events, while also organizing and assisting supervisors in the FCCLA headquarters.

The meeting featured a series of specialized leadership tracks and general sessions in which members discovered ways to become actively involved in issues facing today’s youth. Students Taking Action with Recognition (STAR) are competitive events in which members participated at the regional meeting. These events allowed members to showcase their life skills in different areas of competition.

GRHS teams that competed in Region II and qualified for state included:
1st Place: Career Investigation, Level I – Wyatt Lawson
1st Place: Entrepreneurship, Level 2 – Kate Reedy
1st Place: Sports Nutrition, Level 3 – Laney Whitefield
2nd Place: Chapter Service Project Display, Level 3 – Ashlynn Perry & Jordin Voss
2nd Place: Chapter Service Project Portfolio, Level 3 – Erin Outen & Trinidy McCoy
3rd Place: Interior Design, Level 3 – Peyton Barber & Shelby Simpson

Caroline Davis was elected to serve as a Texas FCCLA State Officer for the 2020-2021 school year at the House of Delegates meeting. State officer positions will be announced at the upcoming State Conference. We are so proud of Caroline and look forward to the upcoming year as she serves Texas FCCLA.
